Critiquing Panama
On Feb. 5th, Yahoo rolled out Panama, their new ranking system for Yahoo PPC ads. Although it will not be completely rolled out until March, there has been considerable speculation that this will be the step that either makes or breaks Yahoo's future. Bayyr Scwartz over at Search Engine Land, however, has compiled a round-up of feedback on Panama. So far, the mains conclusions seem to be:
"Most say they have seen no changes in rankings, click through rates and conversions, some see they have seen improvements," The buggy side to Panama is being heavily reported on But many useful tips are being shared, as well
Although this overview is pretty much inconclusive, what else can be expected only 3 days after something entirely new is launched? In other words, how could advertisers expect to see a significant change in CTR, conversion rates, and ranking in just three days? My guess is that it won't be until a couple months after Panama is completely rolled out that we start to form a better idea of whether it works and, if so, how well.
