Graywolf Suggests Five Business Promotions for $888
Yesterday we posted about Greywolf's 13 tip for free business promotion. Well, it looks like the SEOer is at it again, suggesting 5 Ways to Promote your business for $888 a Year. Summarized, they are:
1. Yahoo Directory
2. RegisterLocal.com
3. TrueLocal.com
4. Email your Existing Customers
5. Hold a Contest
Of course, you can read more about each at the Original Post, but I'd like to express a couple of reservations.
First, although I haven't looked into it myself, the way that Graywolf describes Truelocal.com, it doesn't sound like something that will really catch on -- at least not in a way worth paying for. Then again, $5/month would make it worth it if it brought in one customer a month, so it might be worth it after all. I still think most people are more likely to just Google things. That's why I think his suggestion yesterday to exploit Google Local and Yahoo Local (both free) is probably more useful.
Secondly, I personally think that the win-an-iPod tactic is a little played out. Granted, it'll probably work. But I'm skeptical of the quality of traffic that it would attract. You might just attract contest addicts rather than potential clients. I guess it depends, though, on what your target market is.
