Search Marketing 2.0
Just because being an Affiliate Marketer allows you to earn an income while working from home, that doesn't mean that other people aren't still a huge part of the equation. As with anything else, It's not what you know, it's who you know. Today, Rhea Drysdale is sharing her wisom on this point over at Search Engine Journal. She offers 11 different tips that a search marketer can use to move towards success. Summarized, they are as follows:
- Attend conferences and workshops.
- Actively seek out social opportunities.
- Collect business cards and don’t forget to bring your own!
- Subscribe to their blogs.
- Participate in the conversation.
- Just like SEO/PPC best practices, leverage local opportunities.
- Join MyBlogLog.
- Join every possible social network and build a personality.
- Contribute to the forums.
- Start your own blog.
- Finally, Rinse and Repeat.
You'll notice just how many of these revolve around Social Media. Web 2.0 is really making it possible for more of us to live the American Dream and go into business for ourselves without any major start-up capital, and Search Marketing is just one of the ways we can do it. You know, what I think is the most beautiful thing about Web 2.0 is that it's like the printing press of our generation. Top-down communication is becoming less and less respected, and more and more little guys are getting a piece of the pie. I wondered what Marx would have thought if he could see this version of individuals selling their "surplus value." :)

That's funny. He'd have to ask whether the surplus value was benefiting "the man" or the "the people".
