18 PPC Tips

Ensuring that your PPC campaign will be a hit takes more than just bidding high on the words you think are best and then watching the conversions role in. In fact, bidding on the highest traffic words usually don't convert into sales, and you also have to take into account things like negative keywords. But if you're new at this, where do you start?

Well fortunately, there are experts with experience, and if you can't afford to hire one, then you should consider doing your research before undertaking a PPC campaign yourself. Writing for WebProNews, Joe Whyte offers 18 different tips. Just a few of them are:

1) Focus on long tail keywords [...]

2) Build landing pages for these terms
[...]
4) Vary your ad placement - Range from being #1 to #6 on given ads [...]

5) Do not get into bidding wars

6) Use negative words so your ad does not show up for unwanted phrases or words
[...]
10) Go after commonly misspelled words and phrases using this ontology tool

11) If your business is specific to an area then GEO Target your search terms with geographical specifications

These are just a few things to consider, of course, and Joe offers many plus a lot of elaboration in the Original Post. It's really worth checking before launching any PPC campaign, or even if you're already in the midst of one and can't figure out what it isn't working out in your favor.
