6 Rules of PR 2.0
It seems that publiclky acknowledging your detractors is becoming an increasingly popular trend in online marketing and PR. More to the point, it seems that leveraging your blog to do so is the way to do it. A few days ago, we talked about Blogging Toward a Positive Image and explored Jordan McCollum's 5 reasons Why Corporations Need to Blog.
Well, through this discussion, the guys over at 6 Rules of PR 2.0 without even realizing it:
- It shows that you have nothing to hide.
- It detracts from the detractor.
- It detracts from the criticism byshowing that you're not worried.
- It makes you appear more human because humans are fallible, and you're acknowledging your shortcomings.
- It shows that you actually care (a human emotion) about what others think of you.
- It shows that you care so much that you'll actually help other human beings express how they feel.
It would seem, then, that blogs have much more of a use other than their SEO benefits and the day to day use maintaining an active online presence. Specifically, they are great for (1) dealing with damage control, and (2) turning negative opinion into a positive gain. With a blog, then, there might just be no such thing as bad press after all.
