Keep Blogging -- Why Michael Gray is Wrong

In a vidcast, Michael Grey said that he thinks that most of us shouldn't be blogging. That video is below my own. I think that he's wrong, and I'm taking the time (more than the length of my usual vid-posts) to explain why. Besides, there are a slew of direct SEO benefits to be gained just by blogging -- I've attached some links below.

I loved your response to Michael Gray! Great job. I didn't know of Search Anyway before, but I subscribed to your feed just b/c of your vid response. Looking forward to reading the posts in my reader.

Hey Chris, great reply you had to Michael Gray's video post. I thought you would have had a bunch of comments here at your blog in response to it, but I guess I am the lucky number one.

I really like the point you made that different blogs serve different purposes and cater to different audiences. That's so true! I'm a new blogger and I remind myself of that from time to time as I find my audience and my blogging evolves.

You made some great points and just hooked a new reader. Thanks!

I'm glad you liked the vid guys.

Chris,
As you can see, you were actually #2 to comment. For some reason, this blog gets spammed more than anything I've ever seen, so all responses are moderated manually.

But you'll both be pre-approved for any future comments that you might leave.

Now that you've inspired me, I'm off to say those original things that Michael would like to hear more of.

Hey Chris, I really did like your response. I still have little time to watch video (and I wish I responded earlier), but maybe you'll convert me. :)

Hi Chris, loved the video and I'm glad your video blogging as opposed to writing everything down. I'm hoping to add video to my blog later this month. Video entries like yours help personalize the web and give some of the human connection that is harder to communicate via text. I just subscribed to your blog. Nice job!

A friend pointed me to Michael's video just a bit ago and I have to say it was really difficult to understand what he was talking about, since he had his head lodged so far up his own arse. However I heard something about bloggers stepping away from their keyboards because they aren't as mighty and masterful as he. Of course he didn't actually refer to himself, but he didn't have to. He made it obvious enough.

Anywho, I loved your response to his video and think your last point was wonderful. The internet is a mighty big place. There's room for everyone in it.

I'm not an SEO blogger (not even close), but I'm more likely to choose to learn tips about SEO from people like yourself.

Thanks for the support Mike, it means a lot.

You make a good point yourself. No matter how expert someone is, if arrogance or conceit comes out in their presentation, style, or delivery, it runs me off completely. We all like to learn, but no one enjoys learning from someone a teacher that has to constantly re-affirm their superiority.
