Affiliate blogging

So blogging is huge right now and you're thinking of ways it can make you money. After all, aside form being popular with users, there SEO benefits to blogging. Now the question is, what kind of blog can you make money with?

Well, in affiliate marketing, before you can get paid, you need to traffic that you can monetize. Blogs build contextual traffic, and that means they are great for being monetized. So the question about affiliate blogging is really one about what blog are best for generating traffic. Long story short, as an affiliate marketer, marketing and celebrity gossip blogs are a pretty safe bet. Which ever one you choose to go with, however will depend on the level and nature of your experience.

In the world of PPC, the keywords that generate the highest bids are those that have to do with pharmaceutical products and financial services. If you're planning to monetize your blog traffic, these are topics that are generally attractive. Even if you don't intend on using a PPC affiliate marketing program, the very fact that keywords related to these topics attract the highest bids means that advertising for these industries is competitive in general. Consequenlty, webmasters who have traffic that these advertisers are interested in have an opportunity to turn a handsome profit. The problem is, of course, that building a loyal readership around these topics can be rather difficult.

You see, one of the6 rules of blogging is that you have to update regularly. In fact, the biggest blogging mistake is not updating often enough. Well, imagine trying to produce interesting and compelling content about pharmaceutical products or financial services 5-7 days a week. It wouldn't be easy.

Besides, one of the essentials of blogging is that you produce content that both YOU and OTHERS are interested in. Pharmaceuticals or financial services don't really have the stuff that passion is made of.

As an affiliate marketer, though, something that you are probably passionate about is online marketing. After all, this is how you want to (or do) make you bread and butter. Blogging about marketing, then, seems like a logical choice. Now don't get me wrong, marketing blogs can be very successful. But they can also be very challenging to establish.

For starters, there are already a slew of very well established marketing blogs out there. Gaining enough notoriety is going to take a lot of time and hard work. Mind you, if you succeed, there are no doubt going to be a lot of additional business opportunities coming you way. This is why Lorelle On Wordpress suggest using a blog to make money in the sense that it can enhance your professional reputation.

At the end of the day, though, your readers are professional, they only have so many hours in the day to consume quality and trusted content, and they already have their favorites. Getting their attention, then, and holding it on a consistent basis is going to be a challenge. Especially when you consider that most A- and B-list marketing blogs have multiple contributors.

So what do you do if you want to run a one man show, but still produce content that readers want to enjoy. After all, affiliate marketing is your area of expertise. What else could you learn really quickly? Well, the answer is simple: celebrity gossips.

Now, I know what you're thinking. But consider it seriously. This is a subject that there seems to always be a demand for. Furthermore, anyone who watches television is as much as an expert as anyone else. Finally, it's just gossip. People don't care wher they get it from. All they care about is that they get to say that they heard a rumor about this or that.

In terms of traffic, moreover, just look at the traffic the A-listers such as Perez Hilton and the Drunken Stepfather are able to generate. In terms of affiliate marketing, these guys are not just one trick ponies, but successful ones at that. If you're still not convinced, then consider how even the marketing blog Pronet Advertising underwrite their own celebrity gossip blog, I'm Not Obsessed.

So if you want to turn a buck as a blogging affilaite marketer, you have two choices. You can bust your butt, write what you know, develop a reputation for yourself, and launch a marketing blog, and then maybe in 12 months you'll be able to tell whether you can quit your day job and blog full time. Or you can write what everyone knows, bust your butt, just not as painfully, and launch a celebrity gossip blog and know within only 3 months whether or not you have what it takes to blog as a full time profession.
