How to Monetize Low Traffic Blogs
So, affiliate blogging has been on the rise as of late because, well, blogs are great for SEO and currently a la mode. However, there are also 77 million of them out there, which means that attracting an audience can often be a challenge.
As a result, there are a slew of blogs out there that are dedicated to nothing but blogging, and many of these bloggers are making an attractive living as affiliate marketers. For starters, the Copy Blogger specializes in advising you on how to write compelling content. Then there's Pro Blogger that touches on all things that relate on how to market your blog. Of course, there are also blogs that follow more of a magazine format and have multiple authors, each of whom offer unique perspective on blogging techniques. Blogging Tips is just one of these (Disclosure: I am one of their video blogging columnists).
Of course, until you do build up a large readership, it helps if you can put food on the table in the meantime. Mind you, that can be difficult if you're unique visitors are rather limited in number. Well, Jim Kukral has some advice on how to sell ads on a low traffic blog. Summarized, his points are as follows:
- Make Some Room!
- Explain Yourself!
- Track Advertisers Down!
- Pitch Them!
- Report & Track!
- Close Them!
Now, enumerated like this, these points are rather vague. So if you want the goods, you'll just have to check out the original post from Jim.
