Palbee: Another Viable Video Hosting Niche
If you believed that 19 video hosting sites weren't enough, you were apparently wrong. Just like all things online, video hosting is about niche, and a South Korean company is now pursuing the webinar niche. As the press release reports:
Seoul, Korea (PRWEB) September 25, 2007 -- The Free Video Conferencing Website Palbee.com is launching two new Web 2.0 features - Free Recording and Sharing.
Palbee.com has been providing free video conferencing services since its launch in July of this year. Now users can record video conference sessions such as Webinars, and share their recordings by embedding them in their blogs or using widgets.
To record, users need to select the "Meeting + Recording" option before starting a video conference session. When finished, all the recordings can be accessed via the user's personal page, My Page. Each user can store up to 2 GB of recordings, or more than 50 different sessions, at no charge.
To share the recorded sessions, users either embed the Palbee Player or plug-in the Palbee Widget into their blogs or any other web page. It's as easy as embedding video.
Some of you might be wondering whether theses guys have heard of YouTube, but businesses niches like this are something that both kinds of video hosting users can benefit from. For starters, there's so much clutter on YouTube, it's rather challenging to find quality content -- not to mention quality business content (re not advertising). Similarly, I'm certain that the average YouTube user is tired of all the spammy (re non-entertainment) content on the site.
The point is that Palbee.com may very well have an interesting and viable niche here. After all, MyRagan TV is catering to the video needs of professional communicators, so it makes sense that there should be one, all-encompassing portal for webinars. Of course, it is still a video hosting essential that video makers upload to YouTube if only because it is the largest of the video hosting sites, and therefore provide the largest audience (re viral potential). But it is still nice to know that users interested primarily in a certain kind of video content can find places that specialize precisely in that kind of content.
