SEO Incentive of Video Blogging
For about the last two months, I've been writing a video blogging columns for the popular blogging zine BloggingTips.com. Well here's a clips from one of my fellow columnists, Michael Martine.
Michael recently posted this video called Start Video Blogging for $40 and Less than 2 Hours on his own blog. What's interesting about the clip is that rather than discussing video blogging itself, it focuses on the business development benefits of having a blog in general. I guess, then, that the impetus of the post was to demonstrate the simplicity of actually diving into the realm video blogging.
Now, in terms of traffic generation, there are SEO benefits of blogging that can be reaped by webmasters regardless of what the niche or focus of their site is. In other words, a blog can be installed on a subdomain of your site, and help drive organic traffic to it without being the main focus of the site. When it comes to the 4 ways to SEO for universal search, however, while one of the steps is to get blogging, another of the steps is to make videos. It makes perfect sense, then, that (1) Michael churned out this clip about the business benefits blogging, and (2) you should follow his lead and produce some video blog posts of your own.

Good morning, CT,
And you're absolutely right: The SEO benefits of blogs, and especially video blogs, is amazing.
The trick is to not just blog, but to get your "off-site marketing" program happening.
This means not only doing vlogs (which can become easier than even traditional posts, though don't abandon text just yet...;-) but also using social media tools and other video hosting sites to add reach to your blog posts.
Works wonders.
Great Sunday "watching".
best,

I agree, Mark,
I actually advise anyone who is vlogging to use a third party hosting/sharing site. The only hosting they should do themselves is via a video enclosure below the embedded play on their blog so that iTunes can pick up the MP4 version of their video through their RSS feed.
