The Zen of Online Marketing

Web SearchI wasn’t blogging for a long time as I was busy with a number of new and exciting online marketing projects here at Search Anyway. In sum, to be a successful search arbiter require 3 essential traits:
  1. The expertise to determine what keyword campaigns have sufficient conversion potential.

Affiliate Need Not Think Mobile... Yet

When the largest adserver/affilaite-program on the web goes mobile, the affiliate marketing community is going to notice. However, Google's reason's for launching mobile AdWords has more to do with advancing local search than it does with upgrading the product that affiliate marketers depend on to monetize their traffic. In other words, affiliate marketers shouldn't be too concerned about optimizing their portal's for mobile traffic just yet.

Affiliate Traffic: Quality Over Quality

A new, free SEO tool is underscoring how the worlds of affiliate marketing and conventional retail respectively hinge upon diametrically opposed principles. A company called Kwintessential has launched a keyword translation tool. While this tool can greatly increase revenues and traffic for conventional corporate sites, affiliate marketers might want to avoid it. In a word, the multi-lingual traffic that's good for an international brand name will only dilute affiliate webmaster traffic, and possibly compromise their reputation for having targeted traffic.

7 Ways to Cheat an Affiliate Marketing Program

When it comes to cheating in the world of PPC, the most readily available example that comes to mind is click fraud. While some advertisers are click frauded by competitors trying to exhaust their advertising budget, others are cheated out of clicks by dishonest affiliates that are trying to inflate their own revenues. In this way, the interests of the advertisers and affiliates are both in sync and at odds with each other: while they're both trying to turn users into traffic for the advertiser, what counts as a conversion for the respective parties isn't always compatible.

Visitor Boost: Turning Traffic into Snake Oil?

Affiliate marketers that who buy traffic are better off following the time-tested and true practice of Buy Low, Sell High.

If you're an affiliate marketer, whether you use CPC, CPA, CPM, or CPT advertising to monetize your traffic, you nonetheless face the same challenge: without traffic, there's nothing to monetize. Well, a service called VIsitor Boost offers to send you not only targeted traffic, but geo-targeted traffic. As far as conversions go, however, the model through which Visitor Boost sends affiliate marketers traffic turns that traffic to garbage. While the traffic will unlikely convert for affiliates who feature CPC or CPA advertising, the conversions that CPM or CPT affiliate marketers will see will be both short-term and likely to compromise their reputation with their advertisers.

I've been straying off the beaten path and clicking on the links in Blogrush widgets to find things I might not otherwise find. There's a new widget being offered by a company called Blogrush that is supposed to help bloggers attract targeted traffice to their site. How AdSense for Search Screws You

If you've been monetizing your traffic with Google AdSense for search, then you've been getting middle-manned on your own product. Think about it: you're providing the search data, but Google is getting rich off of it and only giving you some chump change. Now granted, for many webmasters, Google Adsense is their bread and butter. It's brand-name advertising that (1) gets their site indexed often, and (2) their users perceive as more credible. For others, however, AdSense is the bane of their existence. Since payments are only issued quarterly, AdSense is an unreliable source of income because webmasters can be banned or refused payment without any warning or appeal process.
